Just a bit about today... I learned some new chores yesterday (feeding a few hundred head of cattle and taking care of 2000 hogs; half at the finisher (older hogs) and half at the nursery (younger)) and did them by myself for the first time today. And wouldn't you know it; torrential rain. I sure do wish the skid-loaders had windows and solid roofs! Since they don't; you're pretty much just sitting there in the down-pour. Needless to say, it was pretty uncomfortable for a while. That is, until my underwear were fully soaked. After that, there was no more getting wet; I was as wet as I could be. And it doesn't seem so bad once there's no more to lose.
Some days the rain is bittersweet. While it makes chores difficult and uncomfortable (for a while), the crops need it to grow. And while the mud suspends lots of work, it can give the farmers some unexpected time off. Other than feed the animals, we didn't do a whole lot of farming today.
I'm trying to remember what it was like noticing the weather when I stood up in my cubicle and looked out the window about 30 yards away. The most the weather ever effected me then was how it dictated whether or not I'd mountain bike that evening. Now the weather is in my face (sometimes literally) every moment of my day.
